MISSION MOMENT
Feed My Sheep for One Great Hour of Sharing. We have three adult sheep and two young ones in the pen on the chart at the church. Our giving thus far is $374.81. Can we get some more sheep in the pen that are fed by the end of the month? A special thanks to those who have prayed for, became informed and contributed to the needs of people. All efforts are extremely needed.

SENIOR ADULT MINISTRIES

The Senior Adult Ministries takes care of our Seniors. We do many things in this capacity. When we are made aware of a need, we act on it with a visit, telephone call, cards and certainly by prayer, whichever is necessary to take care of the need. We have a committee comprised of 6 members and 1 Ex-officio that make the decisions for the group. We meet every other month to determine who our speakers will be. We try to have some speakers that are informational for the group as well as the church as a whole. For example, our speaker on this Friday will tell us of the new requirements for getting our drivers’ licenses. As the Federal Government is now taking charge of the requirements, all will be different and more complicated. Jim McKee will be our speaker in October for some Lincoln historical entertainment. Some luncheon programs are just for our own entertainment, such as musical groups. Our group loves singing and sing alongs. We try to bring programs that will appeal to the membership. On the opposite month we meet for a luncheon. Our members provide a devotional at each luncheon. Our SAM committee members chair and prepare the luncheons. We charge for our luncheons so that we will have the funds to invite the church membership for some kind of a free get together. This year we have had two such events: we worked with the Music/ Drama Committee at the Talent Night to provide an ice cream social and with the Search Committee to cook a luncheon on the day the candidate and family were with us. Luncheon participation is around 35 to 40. We are an outreach group for our luncheons as well as our trips. We bring in people from other churches who are regulars with us for lunch as well as the bus trips. Bob Howe puts together our trips. Our next trip is September 11, and we are going to Homestead National Monument with two other stops as well as a luncheon. The cost is only $40 per person. We try to keep the cost at a minimum due to our economy. We invite not only our church members, but also other Baptist Churches to participate. We will top off the year with a December trip for a Christmas program. Our trip participation ranges from about 38 to 51. All members and friends are welcome at all our luncheons and bus trips. Our committee members are: Evelyn Durham, Chair; Norma Bennett, Secretary; Glenys Tabor, Treasurer; Bob Wissinger and Pat Schroeder, Speakers; Irv Stanard, Caller; Bob Howe, Ex-officio.
